Who is Shaadie Blaze?
Rashaad B. Duncan, or better known as Shaadie Blaze, was born in Jersey City, New Jersey and raised in Brampton, Ontario. He has always been close to the arts starting as a child actor/singer performing in various musicals.
As he grew older, he grew more fond of spoken word and hip-hop. Although he had always loved reggae, dancehall and hip-hop in his adolescence, he really became a connoisseur of rap consuming hundreds of hours of music and building a collection of his favourite artists.
It wasn’t until high school that Shaadie Blaze wrote his first song and it wasn’t until the year after grade 12 that he recorded his first song. In the beginning, it was about telling his story and the everyday experience of his life but as he grew older he realized that he wanted to put a specific message out there rather than reliving negative experiences and behaviours through his music. He chose to focus on creating an environment for inspiration and learning for his audience.
He is heavily inspired by The Lox, A Tribe Called Quest, Nas and many more artists. He is also a photographer and videographer, and loves to create visual content as well. We asked him where he sees himself in five years and he said, “There are no limits in life only obstacles you have to figure out how to move through regardless of the difficulties. What I mean by this is I just hope to inspire the upcoming generation to be better versions of themselves and strive to live their life rather than being a spectator in it.”
This is definitely an artist to watch and as he continues to make a path and name for himself, we can all say that we were here early!
